In this article, we will have a look into the enhancements made to the Business Rules Composer feature in BizTalk360 version 8.1. The important change in this feature is we have integrated BRE viewer with Business Rules Composer to make it a single powerful tool. In the earlier versions of BizTalk360 - Business Rule viewer was a read-only functionality that allowed users to view the currently published/deployed rules, deployment history and whether tracking is enabled on these rules from one location.
BizTalk360 version 8.0 had a "Business Rules Composer" with the capability to add/modify a rule and publish/deploy the rule without the support of an IT personnel. Business Rules Composer has additional capabilities to audit user actions and maintain a history under the 'Governance-Audit' section, as well as push real-time updates into the Live Feed viewer. Let's have a look at the enhancements made to the feature that will be useful for business users while creating business rules.
Deployment Status and Version Data of the Current Policy
One of the key features of the business rule composer is once you have created a rule and published/deployed it, then you will not be able to make any changes. In BizTalk360, we have enhanced the Business Rules Composer with the deployment history, this provides an audit trail of when the current version of the policy was deployed/published. In v8.1 users can access the deployment history within the rules composer page.
Improved Search capabilities
The BizTalk360 Business Rules Composer has been developed to work exactly the same way as it works in Microsoft's Business Rule Composer. However, we have added few additional components to the feature that will be useful for business users while creating business rules. One such capability is a search tool that will enable the users to easily search for policies and vocabularies (Functions and Predicates) from the search bar.
User Access Policies
One of the core strength of using rules composer in BizTalk360 is its comprehensive user access policy and auditing. If you wish to share the rule information with your sales team, you have to give them access to the Microsoft's BizTalk Rule Composer. But with BizTalk360 Business Rules Composer and the appropriate user access settings any team member can view the various policies, rules, rule status, and the rule information.
Using the below screen we can set the can access permission to Business Rules for the chosen user. Please refer to User Access Policies for more information on how to use User Access Policies.
