Fallback settings are nothing but EDI Global Properties that BizTalk server will use when it cannot determine the agreement for either an incoming or outgoing message. BizTalk server will use the fallback agreement (the global setting values) to process the incoming interchange or generate the outgoing interchange. However, if an agreement exists, BizTalk server will not use anything from the fallback agreement and use the defined values in the agreement. The fallback settings are applicable to X12-encoded messages and EDIFACT-encoded messages.

All the values in the X12 Fallback Settings and EDIFACT Fallback Settings screen are completely Read-Only. If you want to make any changes to the information, you need to log in to the BizTalk Server Administration Console.
