BizTalk360 version 8.0 user interface has been completely revamped to give a new and fresh look to the product. There are a lot of nifty changes that have gone into the product and in this article, we will list out the different user interface changes:

  1. The Home page dashboard has a complete fresh look giving the option for users to be able to set up their own custom dashboard (through the use of widgets). Users have the capability to create multiple dashboards as per their requirements, and can also pin different sections into the dashboard at their convenience.
  2. Pop-ups will no longer be available in the application. All pop-ups have been replaced with the concept of "Blade". This allows for seamless transition between the pages/sections of the application.
  3. Users have the ability to choose a color theme for their environment for easy identification purposes. You will notice the color theme on the top left corner of the BizTalk360 application (in the environment selection pane). For instance, the color coding of the default environment (that is automatically created when BizTalk360 is installed for the first time) is set to #f7b48f. Similarly, when you create a new environment in BizTalk360, you can choose a custom color for the environment.
  4. Inline operations can be performed directly from the Grid View. Earlier, in BizTalk360, users had to select (say) an artifact, and scroll back to the top to perform an operation (such as Start/Stop/Enable/Disable). We have made this process simpler. Now, in BizTalk360 v8.0, you can perform the required operation in 3 different ways -
    • Selecting the artifact (check box) and clicking on the Operation buttons (Start/Stop/Enable/Disable/Enlist/Unenlist) at the top of the grid
    • Selecting the artifact (check box). When you do this, you will notice an inline operation showing up right next to the check box with the possible operations that you can perform on the artifact.
    • Hovering over the record in the Status column - When you hover the mouse over the status column, you will notice the possible operations that can be performed on the selected artifact.
  5. We have categorized the different operations of BizTalk360 into the top 3 levels (Operations, Monitoring, and Analytics). Under each level, each feature has been grouped under a particular section depending on their functionalities.
    • Operations - Home, Application Support (Search Artifacts, Applications), Rules (Business Rules, Business Rules Editor), Data Access (Message Box (Queries), Graphical Flow (Tracking), Secure SQL Queries, Business Activity Monitoring, Advanced Event Viewer), ESB Portal (ESB Exception Data), Electronic Data Interchange (Reports, Parties & Agreements), Health Check Tools (Backup/DR Visualizer, Message Box Viewer), Security (Governance - Audit), Infrastructure Settings (Topology, Host, Host Instances, Message Boxes, BizTalk Servers, Tracking Manager, Adapters, SQL Server Instances)
    • Monitoring - Home, Manage Alarms, Manage Mapping (Applications, BizTalk Servers, SQL Servers, SQL Server Instances, BizTalk Environment), Data Monitoring (Data Monitoring, Data Monitoring Dashboard), Notification History (Notification, Alert History)
    • Analytics - Home, Flow List, Throttling Analyser
  6. Each top level section (Operations, Monitoring, Analytics) contains a separate Home screen. The Operations and Analytics sections contain the Dashboard and the ability to create multiple widgets in the dashboard. Users also have the ability to create custom dashboards in these sections.
  7. The Monitoring and Analytics top level section contains a visual indicator to indicate whether the monitoring and analytics services are running or not. If the services are running without any problem, you will notice a green visual indicator against the section heading name. If the services have any problem (not running due to some reason), you will notice a red visual indicator.
  8. Throttling Analyser functionality has been moved into the Analytics section
  9. All grid data can now be downloaded as .XLSX file. Its easy for users to download data from BizTalk360 and store them (for reporting purposes).
  10. Information about the BizTalk Server (within Monitoring and Infrastructure Settings) and SQL server (within Monitoring) is now represented in a nice graphical way
  11. Governance/Audit grid view reflects the information in the following way "Who (user name) performed What operation on Which Artifact for Which Application"
  12. We have added the capability to be able to filter results in the Governance/Audit sections
  13. Governance/Audit section and Knowledge Base section home page view has been changed to give a better visual representation of the different operations that can be performed
  14. We have improved the To-Do List under BizTalk360 Settings as follows -
    • There are 3 levels of configuration that needs to be done for BizTalk360 to work perfectly - Basic, Medium, and Advanced. We have grouped the different operations under "To-Do" into these 3 levels of configuration.
    • When an setting has been configured, you will notice the status as Configured. If you have not configured a particular BizTalk360 Setting, you will notice the status as Not Configured.
  15. You can now add an image for the logged in user under the User Profile settings from the Home page. The image will be visible across different sections like User Access Policy, Live Feed, Governance/Audit and so on.
  16. When you are running a free trial version of BizTalk360, you will notice a pink bar on the top of the Home page with the number of days left in the trial period. The information will be displayed as follows "Your Trial Key expires on Month DD YYYY You have N days to go".
  17. The Environment Properties information is now made available under BizTalk Group Properties section under the left menu pane
  18. When mapping artifacts with an alarm, we have moved the alarm selection (drop down) under the section heading (containing the Pin icon). Earlier the drop down was placed at the top right corner of the page.
  19. We have modified the User Access Policy -> User Access (Module Wise) selection page where Super Users can select the features that can be accessed by the normal user. We have grouped the operations into different sections such as Operations, Monitoring, Analytics, Knowledge Base. We have also pre-defined few user profiles with selected roles (such as for L1 Support, L2 support, and so on). For detailed understanding about this feature, please refer this article.
  20. We have changed the color of the visual indicator (green) that appears when an action is performed in the page.
  21. When you do not have permissions to a particular section/ when appropriate data is not configured/available when you try to access a part of BizTalk360 application/when you have not activated the license for a particular environment, you will notice a "yellow warning screen" indicating the reason as to why you are not allowed to the particular operation/not seeing what you intend. This has been made available throughout the application.
