Pipelines in BizTalk server architecture are responsible to perform several types of transformations (such as conversion from original format to XML and vice-versa) on the messages. For instance, there may be occasions when you may need to transform a flat-file into an XML file to take advantage of the maps feature in BizTalk server. When the message enters the receive pipeline, they pass through different stages (such as decode, disassemble, validate, and resolve party). In the same way, when the message leaves the BizTalk server, they pass through the Send Pipeline through different stages (such as Pre-assemble, Assemble, and Encode).
The Pipelines tab in the applications page of BizTalk360 displays the list of configured pipelines in the BizTalk application.
