In this section, we will see how to set up multiple types of alarms within BizTalk360. Let's get started with the preliminary step of alarm export/import functionality, i.e. to be able to create multiple alarms for different business requirements.


Creating an alarm

To create an alarm in BizTalk360, you need to follow the steps below (general instructions):

  1. Log in to the BizTalk360 application
  2. Click 'Monitoring and Notification' in the Menu panel on the left side of the screen
  3. Select 'Manage Alarms' from the drop down in the top right corner of the screen
  4. Click 'New Alarm'
  5. Select For Threshold Monitoring to create the current alarm specific to threshold monitoring. Select For Health Check Notification to create the current alarm specific to being able to receive health check alerts. Select For Data Monitoring to create the current alarm specific to data monitoring.
  6. Select For Consolidated Monitoring to create an alarm for threshold monitoring, health check notification, and data monitoring
  7. If you choose For Threshold Monitoring,
    1. Enter a descriptive name for the Alarm, Email id (you can enter multiple email ids as comma separated values), and Alarm Description
    2. Click > to enter the Threshold Alarm page
    3. Select the 'Alert on threshold violation' check box if you want to be alerted upon a threshold violation. You have few options here like specifying persist duration, maximum alerts, positive notification and also you can restrict the threshold monitoring window between certain times (useful when you don't want to get alerted after business hours)
    4. Click > to move to the last section of adding the Advanced Settings information

    5. All the settings in advanced settings page is optional. Set the phone number to receive the Notification SMS when the alert is triggered. As with the email ids, you can enter multiple phone numbers as comma separated values.

    6. Click OK to create the alarm. The alarm will be created and you will be redirected to the Manage Alarms page. The Manage Alarms page will list the alarms that have been created for the environment.
  8. If you choose For Health Check Notification,
    1. Enter a descriptive name for the Alarm, Email id (you can enter multiple email ids as comma separated values), and Alarm Description
    2. Click > to enter the Status Alarm page
    3. Select the day(s)/time when you want to receive the status alert from BizTalk360
    4. Click > to move to the last section of adding the Advanced Settings information

    5. All the settings in advanced settings page is optional. Set the phone number to receive the Notification SMS when the alert is triggered. As with the email ids, you can enter multiple phone numbers as comma separated values.

    6. Click OK to create the alarm. The alarm will be created and you will be redirected to the Manage Alarms page. The Manage Alarms page will list the alarms that have been created for the environment.
  9. If you choose For Data Monitoring
    1. Enter a descriptive name for the Alarm, Email id (you can enter multiple email ids as comma separated values), and Alarm Description
    2. Click > to enter the Data Monitor Alert page
    3. Select the check box "Use this alarm for Data Monitor Alerts" if you wish to associate the current alarm with the data monitors. Select the check box "Notify on Success as well" to receive success email alerts for the configured data monitors. If you do not choose the second check box, you will not receive the success email alerts.
    4. Click > to move to the last section of adding the Advanced Settings information

    5. All the settings in advanced settings page is optional. Set the phone number to receive the Notification SMS when the alert is triggered. As with the email ids, you can enter multiple phone numbers as comma separated values.

    6. Click OK to create the alarm. The alarm will be created and you will be redirected to the Manage Alarms page. The Manage Alarms page will list the alarms that have been created for the environment.
  10. If you choose For Consolidated Monitoring
    1. Click 'New Alarm'. Enter a descriptive name for the Alarm, Email id (you can enter multiple email ids as comma separated values), and Alarm Description
    2. Click > to enter the Threshold Alarm page
    3. Select the 'Alert on threshold violation' check box if you want to be alerted upon a threshold violation. You have few options here like specifying persist duration, maximum alerts, positive notification and also you can restrict the threshold monitoring window between certain times (useful when you don't want to get alerted after business hours)
    4. Click > to enter the Status Alarm page

    5. This step is optional, if you want to use the alarm for regular health/status check, you can select day(s)/time when you want to receive the status alert

    6. Click > to move to the screen to set up data monitoring alert. Select the check box "Use this alarm for data Monitor Alerts" if you wish to associate the current alarm with the data monitors. Select the check box "Notify on Success as well" to receive success email alerts for the configured data monitors. If you do not choose the second check box, you will not receive the success email alerts.

    7. Click > to move to the last section of adding the Advanced Settings information
