When BizTalk360 is installed and if everything went well during the installation, the installer wizard will automatically open BizTalk360 application in a browser window (http://localhost/BizTalk360/). The first screen will look as follows:
Let's take a look at the main screen to understand the layout of BizTalk360 and how we have structured the application.
The main screen is divided into 4 sections:
- Environment and Settings Pane
- Properties Pane
- Navigation Pane
- Content Pane
Environment and Settings Pane
This pane contains the product version information and icons for user information, Settings, and Knowledge Base sections. It also contains the configured environment information. In the above screen, you can see that the version number is 7.5.1410.0 (which the latest version at the time of writing this article) and the environment information (BT360SPQA2). Since only one environment is configured (by default), there will not be any more items visible in the drop down. When you add more environments (ex. UAT, SIT, PROD, and so on), the names of the environments will be listed in the drop down in ascending order. You can easily switch between environments by clicking the environment name in the drop down.
The properties pane contains the information of the BizTalk group, performance information, information of the different BizTalk databases, and any certificate information (if configured). These information can be viewed by clicking the Properties link found at the top right corner of the page. All the information in the properties pane are Read-Only.
This is the main panel in BizTalk360 from where you can access the different features of the application. Ex. Applications, Graphical Flow (tracking), Platform Settings, BizTalk Monitoring and Notifications, and so on. When you click on an item in the pane, the contents will be displayed in the Content pane on the right side. In the above screen, you can see that you pretty much have access to all the areas in the application. But in real time, depending on the business requirement and your job role in the organization, you may see only a few of these items. This can be decided by the administrator user.
This is the pane in BizTalk360 where you can perform the different actions. Any actions performed in this area will be equivalent to performing the same in the BizTalk Administration Console. At the bottom of the content pane, you will see a yellow bar with the License Information. This can be collapsed by clicking the < button.
