BizTalk server Configuration - The BizTalk EDI/AS2 Runtime configuration may fail with error: DTS package BAM_DM_InterchangeStatusActivity already exists.

This tip will help you resolve following error when configuring EDI/AS2 reporting: "An existing Status Reporting's BAM activity (ResendJournalActivity) is found in the database BAMPrimaryImport".

This issue is caused when EDI Reporting was configured and then unconfigured. When EDI/AS2 reporting is unconfigured, it does not remove the BAM activities that are left in the BAM database. The BAM activities may have data that you need and therefore the unconfiguration wizard does not remove them.

There are different steps to get this issue resolved:

Remove the BAM activities (ResendJournalActivity and ResendTrackingActivity) from the BAMPrimaryImport database by using bm.exe

bm.exe remove-activity –Name:ResendJournalActivity

bm.exe remove-activity –Name:ResendTrackingActivity

Uninstall and Unconfigure following features :-

BAM Tools

EDI Runtime (if applicable)

AS2 Runtime (if applicable)

Reinstall following features :-

BAM Tools

EDI Runtime (if applicable)

AS2 Runtime (if applicable)

Once done the above steps, again while configuring you may be facing an error like :-

Error Configuration Framework]Feature: [BizTalk EDI/AS2 Runtime] Failed to configure with error message [<Exception Message="Failed to configure EDI/AS2 Status Reporting functionalities."

Source="Microsoft.BizTalk.Configuration.EDIAS2.StatusReportingHelper" HelpID="StrFailedToConfigReporting"><Exception Message="Failed to deploy BAM activity definitions. Please make sure that all BAM related Data Transformation Services (DTS) packages are removed along with the BAM databases." Source="Microsoft.BizTalk.Configuration.EDIAS2.Utility" HelpID="StrFailedToDeployBAMActivity"><Exception Message="Failed to execute process: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2013 R2\Tracking\bm.exe." Source="Microsoft.BizTalk.Configuration.EDIAS2.Utility" HelpID="StrFailedToExecuteProcess"><Exception Message="Microsoft (R) Business Activity Monitoring Utility Version 3.9.469.0
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. How to fix this?

 1. The EDI/AS2 BAM SSIS package names begin with BAM_DM_.
 2. You can manually rename the BAM_DM_ SSIS packages in SQL Server Integration Services.

For example, you can rename the BAM_DM_AS2InterchangeActivity SSIS package to BizTalkGroup_BAM_DM_AS2InterchangeActivity. Then configure the BizTalk EDI/AS2 Runtime feature.

Steps:-

1.Click on SQL server management.

2.Click on the connect drop down and get connected to Integration services by entering the server name

3.Click stored packages->MSDB->Rename all which starts with BAM_DM_

And try to configure again,it will be configured successful ! :-)
